The Wild Joe has done its 4-day-long training for the Adriatic Race - the first off shore regatta of the year - which will be organized between 28-30th of April. Because of the bad weather conditions, the originally 5-day-long training time lessened, but fortunately we could spend this day usefully by testing and tuning the reconstructed parts which had been examined and repaired but did not able to try in use during the previous one month. During the almost 1-month-long hard work, all the mechanical parts of the tipping keel, the moving hydraulic system and the keeping structure of it, the stationary rigging and the moving elements of the mast and all the mountings on the board underwent a trough examination and where it was necessary we changed the affected elements as well.

The first manoeuvres were taken carefully, making our sensors for sensitivity, keeping close watch on all vibrations and being ready for immediate reactions and inventions. We did not experience any deformities. The following technical team deserves recognition: Mr. Áron Németh, Mr. Tibor Palatinus, Mr. Zsolt Király, and Mr. Tamás Galgóczy.

With two new members, altogether 16 crews on the board, we spent the first training day by trial sailing in 10-12 knots, W-NW wind and excellent sunshine. Our primary aim was that everybody had to roll-back their tasks as soon as it was possible. During the manoeuvres, the last year had fixed movements were running smoothly, the new members could take the rhythm easily and after checking the calibration of the appliances took aim at maximum speed. By tinny settings on the sail, hunting for the tenth knots; the team could reach and sometimes surpassed the target values which had been noticed by the Austrians.

Our aim for the second day was to practice the so-called “three-change”, what was made really exciting by the always changing wind.

On the third training day we could continue our work among more stable wind conditions.

During the last day with Mr. Marco Marinovic – who is a representative of the Croatian North Sails – we tested the brand new offshore main sail (with reducible surface) which had made then transformed by them according to the last year experiences. Finally with the help of him we could find the appropriate settings as well. After the training, the team prepared the boat for the app. 250 sea mile-long Adriatic Race and for the previous over sailing to Vis Island to where the boat will start on the 27th of April from Kremik.
